'Sheffield' (1954), Canterbury Railway Station, oil on canvas board, signed. 350 x 450mm. Note: the depiction of rural railway stations by Canterbury artists was popular c.1930/1950 and brought to N.Z. art the modern British tradition of strong blocks of colour and shadow as evident in this work and notably in 'Hawkins' (1933) by Rata Lovell-Smith and 'Cass' by Rita Angus.
