Provenance: [Sold at auction c.1991 Sloane's Wellington lot 78 Miet Collection] Private Estate Collection. Note: it has been suggested that the form represents the native bat (also called pekapeka). However, it is also possible that the representation is of two intertwined bird forms. Registered Y4989.
