small drawer and cupboard door with dummy drawer fronts, banded inlay, gilt metal mounts, elegant cabriole legs. 450 X 380 X 840mm. Provenance: Purchased by our vendors from the 2002 Manchester Estate Sale. Sir William Manchester was an eminent plastic surgeon who developed the first civilian plastic surgical unit in the NZ public hospital system on his return from WWII. Further accounts state that this cabinet was gifted to Sir William by the famous NZ plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe.
