A.B.: "Owen (Mapp) and I travelled in the U.S., Central, and South America, for nearly two years, 1977 and 1978. These pieces we collected and found. Ecuador, at the time, had a rule on antique pots, which meant that, (after) showing them to the authorities, if their musea had enough examples of a shape, they allowed it to be taken out of the country. These items arrived legitimately into New Zealand"
