Our first not to be missed auction of the year starts with some rather special historical entries; a rare carved kauri gum mere, ex. the personal collection and now estate of a knowledgeable antique dealer, two large kauri gum boulders, a pair of extinct huia beak jewellery items, the female beak as a brooch, the shorter male’s beak as a pendant, a collection of vintage photo’s taken by the lead stoker on board the Terra Nova Antarctic Expedition 1910-13, only a teenager at the time having lied about his age to previously join the Navy, a set of four early 20th century tourist art tin plates, made in Germany, chromolithographed with medallions depicting Guide Sophia etc., Crown Lynn Bohemia ware pottery, Len Castle pottery, Maori artefacts etc., Georgian portrait miniatures, good NZ stamps,duck decoys, old glass fishing floats, old shot guns and sword stick, old Fijian kava bowl, 1905 All Black tour book with photo’s, Royal Doulton, Royal Worcester, Moorcroft, Keith Murray collection etc., a good oriental section is dominated by Chinese porcelain, jade and ivory items, the jewellery section features a magnificent 24ct dia- mond necklace, emerald and diamond rings, gold Krugerrand and other gold coins etc.,clocks and watches include an over sized repeater carriage clock in good working order with case, collectors silver, a good selection of Persian rugs included older and silk pieces, furniture includes a George III corner cupboard, old oak pieces, a Regency three leaf extension table, Art Deco table & chairs, other retro items, good decorator items, lamps, garden pieces, etc., the art section includes Aston Greathead, Lois McIvor, Alfred Walsh, a rare Charles Muntz gold mining scene, Lois White, May Gilbert archive and so much more that you must view....
