Winter is here, and so is a sumptuous array of art and antiques, from a number of estates and private vendors.

This month we have kauri gum, walking sticks, eight fur coats, antique quilts, boxes, fishing floats, precision instruments, old ship’s lamps, portholes, telegraphs, diving helmet, a small cannon, Victorian water filters, carved ivory, toys, maps, advertising, antique glasses, Garry Nash, Peter Viesnik, Waterford, Murano, three large greenstone boulders, an old kiwi egg, Maori and tribal artefacts, one of the best collections of N.Z. pottery including George Boyd, Lambert, Hutson, Drury, a rare Benhar umbrella stand, Woodnorth, Crown Lynn, Len Castle, Rancich, Spartan, the china section has a rare Doulton Chang vase, along with our usual fine china, we have a stunning offering of Chinese and other Oriental ceramics from a long time collector, a delightful pair of Huanghuali bedside cabinets, carved ivory, jade, screens and cloisonne. The jewellery opens the evening session with pearl, amber, coral and precious stone necklaces, a fine Lightening Ridge opal necklace, fob seals, diamond rings and a great selection of Cartier and other diamond earrings, bracelets, N.Z. jewellery, Victorian and Edwardian pieces, a $50 gold maple coin on chain, Rolex wristwatches, silver and gold pocket watches, a rare N.Z. pocket watch, ship’s chronometers, wall, mantel and skeleton clocks, silver cutlery including an im- pressive silver mahogany box of American silver cutlery, Georg Jensen, Tiffany, silver dog nose spoon, Georgian teapot, coffee pot, a signifiant pair of George III silver candlesticks, silver salvers, our usual selection of good hand knotted rugs, kilim cushions, etc., Georgian, Victorian, Colonial, Chinese and French furniture amongst which we have a superb chest on chest, wine tables, coffers, dining tables, chairs, nest of tables, high back set-tle, country furniture, ornate Sheraton Revival overmantel mirror, revolving bookcase, decorator mirrors, lamps, chandeliers, the art section has works by Larden, Dalgarno, three unusual fabric works of art by Chief Zacheus O.
