Auction Details

The new year continues with more fine offerings from various private vendors and estates. The first session opens with postcard albums, stamps, rare books including a first edition of Bullers Birds, a Paillard Vaucher music box, taxidermy, tribal, Maori and N.Z. historical items, a new section for shipping and nautical memorabilia, special entry of N.Z. made Fire and Police service medals, 26 pieces of Len Castle plus other N.Z. pottery. An extraordinary Argy-Rousseau glass cicada pendant leads the Modern Movement section. The Oriental section has a fine offering of ivory, ceramics, bronzes, rosewood and snuff bottles.

The second session opens with a large jewellery entry; gold coins, Victorian, Edwardian, contemporary diamond, ruby, emerald sapphire pieces, coral, amber, pearls, something for everyone, a good selection of silver with cutlery, ivory handled fish servers, and an impressive set of three Old Sheffield Plate meat covers. We have a special estate collectionl of Persian rugs and runners including a number of silk rugs; furniture includes Victorian, Edwardian, N.Z. and French, dining tables, desks, sideboards, drawers, lights and mirrors as well as Chinese rosewood, Hangmu cabinets,

This month we have a strong art offering with many items sourced from older collections; works by Hotere, Theo Schoon, Robin Kahukiwa, Stanley Palmer, Mary McIntyre, Peter Beadle plus antique bronze figures, two plaster works by Mona Malcolm. With many more works by national and international artists, this sale must be viewed.
