Auction Details

April brings many fine items from estates and private vendors. The morning session opens with novelty vestas, fishing equipment, items from the natural world, decor and collectables, tribal and Maori artefacts, with a special entry of superb early glass plate negatives featuring Whakarewarewa and the guides, landscapes as well as studio portraits, plus an album of 19thC N.Z. and Pacific Island large format photos. Barry Brickell pottery pieces, an impressive Len Castle collection includes a sulphur bowl. The glass and china sections have our usual enticing offerings with two superb pieces from Royal Worcester. The Oriental section includes carved jades, ivory, bronzes, ceramics and a fine entry of tsubas and netsukes. The evening session starts with estate and collectable jewellery; tribal, amber, coral and agate necklaces, gold chains, colonial jewellery, diamond stud earrings and rings, tennis bracelet, a superb diamond and emerald bracelet, an impressive yellow and white diamond encrusted necklace, rare collectors and other gold coins together with various sparkling gems, wristwatches include Rolex, Breitling and Omega. Silver includes an exceptional silver chatelaine and a good selection of American sterling. 30 Persian rugs and cushions. Furniture and decorator items have an international favour with Chinese, French and Italian alongside N.Z. and English pieces. The fine Art section includes works from Trevor Lloyd, Stanley Palmer, Lois McIvor, a rare Bessie Christie N.Z. military w/c and a significant bronze from John Kavanagh.
