On February 14, 1915, Laura created a unique piece depicting Snuff at the age of one month apparently as a Valentine’s Day gift for her husband and fellow-sculptor James Earle Fraser. This work would prove the inspiration for one of her most beloved pieces, Snuff, sculpted a bit later in the same month, shown somewhat older and slightly differently proportioned.
