oil on velvet, signed and entitled, clippings from the 1970s pertaining to the artist to reverse. Loose in frame. 910 x 670mm. McPhee, originally a self-taught painter; was known as the 'Velvet Gaugin'. Born in Australia, he moved to Tahiti where he was taught the technique of velvet painting by American expert; Howard Leeteg. In the 1950s he moved to New Zealand.
