Lot Details
pencil on paper, signed, dated '79 and inscribed ‘Shearer's Quarter's, Mt. Pisa’. 460 x 643 mm. Provenance: From the artist's collection. Note: Grahame Sydney is now recognised as New Zealand’s leading exponent of the photo-realist style. With studios in Dunedin and Central Otago, Sydney has long favoured this region of the South Island, primarily sourcing the subjects for his work from this area. His art often focuses on dilapidated buildings, traces of human occupancy that lend a rustic charm to their surrounding environs. This work comes from a period when the artist was living at Mt Pisa Station, near Cromwell in Central Otago.
