(includes colonial troops), oil on canvas, signed and dated 1907, entitled and detailed verso. 500 x 750mm. Note: Moultray trained as a painter at the Edinburgh School of Art. He arrived in Otago with his father and brother in 1883 and exhibited at the Otago Art Society in 1883-4 and 1911-1916. He was known for historical paintings, in particular of the New Zealand wars. In his thirties he acted briefly as a war artist and newspaper correspondent in the South African War of 1899-1900.
