the serpentine moulded pediment above two panelled doors enclosing a combination of a cupboard door and eleven drawers. The fall front bureau with fitted interior, the base with three serpentine full width draers, raised on small feet with shaped apron, with original label in Old German script - (translated) "This desk probably comes from Baronesse Susanna von Leonhardi, née von Heyder; last in pocession of her daughter Karoline, who had been married to a man named von Barkhausen". Susanna Elisabetha Heyder (1753-1804) married Baron Peter Johann von Leonhardi of Groß-Karben, the desk being apparently left to her daughter Margarethe Elisabethe Karoline von Leonhardi (1776-1849). 1170 x 660 x 2300mm. Provenance: By descent to Christoph Freiherr von Leonhardi, Warkworth, New Zealand (with presumed earlier provenance as lot 284). Thence, the collection of John and Valerie Robertson, Auckland. Purchased at Cordy's Auctions, circa 1988.
