oil on canvas, signed and dated 1940. 365 x 290mm. Small hole to canvas. Note: Kīngi Tāwhiao (Tūkaroto Matutaera Pōtatau Te Wherowhero Tāwhiao c.1822 – 26 August 1894) reigned as the Māori King from 1860 until his death. Pheney is noted as exhibiting with the ASA (Auckland Society of Artists) from 1889 to 1940 and for taking tuition from Frank and Walter Wright
