one Northern Nguni tribal group, possibly Swazi, with round head surmounted by a ridged comb, pierced to accept a steel blade, the simple shaft with anthropomorphic suggestion of small breasts , L.595mm, the other possibly Zulu, with multiple branched head and tapering shaft, L.620mm. Provenance: Private Auckland collection, previously the collection of M.D.Simpson (Merton D. Simpson Gallery, N.Y.).
