includes: The Queen’s South Africa medal with three clasps 'Orange Free State', 'South Africa 1901' and 'South Africa 1902', together with a WW1 pair and 1914-15 Star. Note: The Harrismith Volunteer Light Horse were a locally raised unit and the bars on the medal are correct for that unit. The medal was issued in 1904. Harrismith was a settlement that appears to have had a concentration camp located there, there was a good deal ill feeling in the area surrounding the damage to farms, property and the requisitioning of cattle, mules and horses. The South African Field Post and Telegraph Corps served primarily in Africa during WW1 and later became (in 1923) the South Africa Corps of Signals. Note: M. J.
