Y Edmonds 1894; The Sights at Wairakei. "There is also a spring which very rapidly petrifies anything submitted to its action. The Crow's Nest is a peculiar large round-shaped hole composed of stones and twigs, all petrified, in exact imitation of an enormous nest. The fidelity to nature is marvellous."
