urn shape, central reeded band to body, acanthus-capped scroll handles, on domed foot that has presentation engraving (Joseph Hancock from his Grandmother Grubb), two coats-of-arms* engraved to the sides. Undated, maker's mark W.T. (for William Townsend (active 1733-1767)). 445gm. *Arms: Ermine, a wheat garb; on a canton azure, an annulet argent Crest: Out of a mural coronet, an arm embowed, vested and cuffed, holding inn the hand a chaplet of wheat (Possibly Gatchell of Somerset) *Arms: Ermine; on a chief, Or, a dexter hand couped at the wrist and apaumee, between two cockerels.
