A Victorian Egyptian Revival parcel-gilt silver centrepiece candelabra, by Frederick Elkington, probably from a design by Auguste-Adolphe Willms (1827-99) for Elkington & Co, hallmarked Birmingham 1870, Willms was the company's chief designer.

With a central candlestick framed by three out swept scroll sconces with dependant ball and chains issuing from a central urn raised above vase shape column decorated with anthemions and leaf scrolls, the column surrounded by three seated and winged sphinxes, on a shaped tripartite base with an anthemion and volute scroll apron supported on three claw-footed flexed legs, all on a gadrooned triform base, engraved to one curve 'Elkington & Co. - Liverpool'. Additionally with Victorian registration diamond stamped beneath. H.625mm, approximately 5000gm.
