Lot Details
carved into the form of a whales tooth with curved point and ridged bands. The top with lug form back, hour glass drilled suspension hole. Dark spotted mid pale green-grey tone with tan inclusions. L.113mm. Labelled 'Rei Puta Pelorus Sound'. Provenance: From a private Nelson estate. Note: A similar example illustrated 'The Moa-Hunter Period of Māori Culture' by Roger Duff 1950 pg.123.
