Lot Details

19thC West Papua, Humboldt Bay area. L.330mm. Provenance: Collected by Koos Knol, 1992, at Acei Kecil village, Lake Sentai area. Knol described it as nephrite or jade found only in the Cyclops mountains near the north coast ( it's possible it may be chloromelanite, a jadeite with high iron content) made near Depapre Village and traded as dowry between subclans. He noted its length as exceptional. The Jorgen Lotz Collection.
