'Dives and Lazarus', oil on canvas. 640 x 770mm. Note: When the impoverished Lazarus arrives at the banquet of the Wealthy Dives in search for food and water, he is refused and condemned to be whipped. When the angels later carry Lazarus to heaven, Dives is taken to hell and refused even a drop of water. This work matches the engraving by the French artist and print maker Abraham Rose.
