signed lower right, the mat entitled 'Auckland's Favourite Launch/Olive Rose, Licenced to carry 140 passengers, designed, built and owned by N.J. Inglis'. 590 x 870. Note: For much of his life Leo White successfully combined two of his passions, aviation and photography, starting Whites Aviation. Mr Norman John Inglis was one of the best known launch owners in Auckland in the early 20thC. He was owner and master of the passenger launches Olivene, Olive Jean and Olive Rose, which he built himself and used regularly in the pre-war trade to Rangitoto and other island resorts, the ‘Olive’ boats and their genial owner being popular with the public.
