Note: The Hursthouse, Atkinson and Richmond families began their relationships and friendships prior to the arrival of James Crowe Richmond to New Zealand in 1850. James's aunt Helen was married to John Hursthouse and already living here, he had also worked with John Staines Atkinson prior to his arrival in New Zealand. The families remained close, forming a community in York Bay, Wellington, in the early 20thC recorded as 'The Village' and a 'European Marae', it was a place rich in art and music, a political and cultural hub. $1200
