third model with Kerr's patent loading rammer. 7" octagonal barrel 48 gauge bore. Frame, cylinder and barrel with a dark uncleaned plum patina with traces of original blue in sheltered places, frame which has been originally nickeled retains 50% plating, remainder flaked off. Back strap with serial number 1685 and ‘By Her Majesty's Royal Letters Patent’ engraved on it. Coarse-chequered grips in good condition, lanyard swivel to butt. Both sides of frame and standing breech and hammer scroll engraved, left side lock work cover plate has ‘Webley's Patent’ engraved in banner. Inside bow of trigger guard shows matching serial number 1685. Lock work is positive and all nipples are good. Birmingham proved on cylinder and bottom barrel flat. 13¾" overall, these big Webley's are scarce and very collectable.
