6 7/8'' octagonal barrel marked ‘Bentley and Playfair’. Open top frame with the barrel hinged to the front of the action bar and held in place by a wedge through the cylinder axis pin. Cylinder with Birmingham proofs and numbered 1 to 5. Frame marked ‘James Webley Patentee’. Back strap marked ‘286’ and ‘By Her Majesties Royal Letters Patent’. Frame, hammer, trigger guard, back strap and butt cap with scroll engraving. Metal work with a grey patina with pitting around the front of the frame. Chequered wooden grips. Lanyard ring. Overall length 12½''. Barrel wedge a replacement. Provenance: From the collection of John & Lynda Matthews (Ōmata Stockade in Taranaki. Waireka Properties Ltd. collection).
