The WW1 memorial scroll and original photo in a modern frame to Trooper James Hughes - of the Wellington Mounted Rifles. 11/889 James Hughes was a famer from Wanganui. He served at Gallipoli and was severely wounded on 27 August 1915, just 11 days after landing. He was evacuated to England where he died of his wounds on 17 October.
