Cordy’s are privileged to present the collection of the late Ngaire Hart, to be held at our new address 553 MOUNT EDEN ROAD, MOUNT EDEN, Ngaire’s enthusiasm for life encompassed many fields; an antique dealer, an adventurous world traveller; a photographer of nature and portraiture; an amateur botanist and keen tramper. Alongside these pursuits sat an abiding passion for collecting. Her Flickr albums1 are an insight into who she was - a traveller with an eye for culture. Although not an ethnographic art collector, she was a significant gatherer of ‘artefacts’ in the broader sense. In Aotearoa she invested in collecting folk art, objects and ceramics, with particular reference to Te Ao Māori. Wharetana ware and Jane Brenkley pieces carved with Maori motifs form the major pillars of this collection, on a foundation of further folk art expressed in wood and ceramics together with early colonial pottery. Ngaire was employed with Cordy's for a number of years and we knew her as a passionate collector until the end. We know she would be delighted to see her collection dispersed to fellow devotees. https://www.flickr.com/photos/eriagn/albums There are extra viewing times at our new saleroom 553 Mt.
